BLUE FACE SPEEDOMETER PLATE 1948-1952
This speedo has a light grey/blue upper plate. The lower is more blue. In the centre you will find a dot pattern, going from the outside to a lighter (silver) centre.
Restored speedometer by The Oldtimer.
We made the different kinds of paint from my NOS 1948 speedo. After the paintjob it gets the same “dot pattern” in the centre like earlier. Also the hash marks are printed (dot pattern and hash marks are not a decal!). This is the best 48 plate.
We also have the top glass, the numerals on the glass have a yellow/silver/cream colour. The bar and shield logo are at the bottom of the glass.
As you can see on the pictures, the pointer had a typical "red" colour. It is shorter than the ones on the 41-47 speedometers.
Rivets for the 48 plate should be brass!
Here are our new 48-53 speedometer plates, ready for sale! Dot pattern, stripes and kilometer are printed!
Here our new upperplate, just like original! (we sell them painted)

The 1953-1955 speedo has a grey/blue lower plate, the upper plate is dark blue (ral 5011). The numbers of this speedo are on the glass and look like yellow/silver. Instead of the bar and shield logo the name Harley-Davidson appears at the lower edge. The yellow/silver hashmarks are also on the glass. The pointer of the 1953 is painted white, the 1954-1955 models have a red pointer.
